The Plague Has An Official Name

and it is Rotavirus!  I apologize for the lack of posts this week.  The Sleep Deprivator threw up once and 4 other people got sick – even though 2 of them had little physical contact with him before and after the digestive pyrotechnics.  The Sleep Deprivator got away with a very mild case.  My husband had it pretty damn bad and CheezWaster got it the worst.  It landed him in the hospital for 3 days for anti-nausea meds and IV hydration.  The 3 people in the family who were with the Sleep Deprivator when he yacked that somehow (by the grace of God!) managed to escape this plague, were all either taking probiotics or eating probiotic yogurt.  I was one of the lucky – though after being in the very dry hospital for 3 days, my minor cough turned into bronchitis (I’d take this over rotavirus any day!)  The rotavirus was not fun for any of us – though there were some hilarious moments – some not really meant to be funny, but in hindsight – really were- for instance when Cheezwaster had sever cramps, he looked like a pregnant woman going through labor – feet stomping, bed banging and all.  If he was a little older, I’m sure there would have been some very interesting dialog to go with the visuals.

This is Cheezwaster telling me one of the 76 times that his arm hurt from the IV (yes – I counted!)

This is CheezWaster as he found out that his bed was a really neat toy – right up until he got the foot portion of the bed stuck in a majorly upright position.  I felt like a big dumbass when I had to call the nurse to fix it because I couldn’t.
On a positive note, we had a really great experience at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ.  The staff was all very caring and especially accommodating to both CheezWaster and me.  The accommodations and care were A-1.  The Easter Bunny even came to visit CheezWaster AND delivered him an early Easter Basket!

The Rotavirus (thank god!) has now left the building and we are all on the mend.  This was one hell of a nasty little bug and I hope not to see it again anytime soon!
