Napless in NJ

While we were in Williamsburg, Uncle Murph said something that struck a chord with me.  He was talking about days out with his granddaughters and how they’d be having a great time and then all of a sudden it would go to hell and that, of course, is what you remember the most, not the actual memorable part of the day.  I’ve noticed this more and more with CheezWaster.  He is a stubborn ass and willful to a fault, especially when it comes to the N-A-P word.  I don’t know what I did in a past life, but my kids just won’t sleep.  And the thing that drives me nuts the most is that they will always sleep for other people, just not me (clearly – I’m far too entertaining!).  Yesterday, we went to our local zoo (to which we have a season membership) and had a great time….until we got in the car to go home and there was an all out meltdown about us not stopping at the McDonald’s across the street (despite us just eating lunch about 40 minutes before that).  Today, everything was great.  We registered for our local Halloween Parade/Contest, went to the park.  CheezWaster even asked to go home since he was tired.  Did he nap? Of course not.  So when we went out to dinner with family, he wasn’t quite the PIA I expected, but he was well on his way.  I continue to try everything I can to get him to nap, but he just won’t.  So, I guess we’ll have a lot of these mostly good memories interspersed with the occasional meltdown.
