WW Update – Week 6

Pounds lost in week 6 – 3.6 pounds

Total weight lost so far – 12.4 pounds

This week I got the very uplifting shock of a lifetime when I stood on the Weight Watchers scale.  After going to a birthday party on Saturday and eating dinner, 2 cookies, 2 mini cupcakes and 2(ok – maybe 4) rice krispie treats, I still managed to lose more than I have lost in any week thus far.  Not only did I get another 5 pound sticker for losing over 10 pounds, I got the super big 5 sticker for losing 5% of my original weigh in fat ass weight.  I even indulged in a very healthy, weight watcher friendly dinner with a friend right after my meeting.  My clothes are starting to feel looser and my pregnancy pouch has significantly decreased.  AND I hit my first official PERSONAL goal of getting the scale below the dreaded 200.  12.4 down – 50 more to go!  Who knows – maybe even more than 50!

Free Slurpee Day 2009 – 7/11/09

I used to be addicted to Slurpees – back when I was a newlywed and we lived around the corner from the local 7-11.  Then I got married and moved away from my beloved 7-11.  Then I got pregnant.  Then I got fat.  Then I had kids.  Kids and Slurpees – not a good mix.  Know what a slurpee all over your kid and a shopping cart looks like?  I do.  And yes, my kids’ skin was permanently stained red for 2 days even after 2 baths and the kiddie pool.  Not to mention I’m still trying to get the stain out of our cart cover.  They totally need to make a kid friendly slurpee cup without that ginormous hole on the top.  I digress……completely against my better judgement, I’m taking the kids to 7-11 tomorrow.  Because if they dump their slurpee all over the place tomorrow, I don’t care – because its FREE!

Soy Story

Hallelujah to Bon Appetit Magazine for printing THIS ARTICLE. It’s nice to know that 1) I’m not the only freak out there and 2) people truly are aware of the potential dangers of soy.

Final Destination

You know in the Final Destination movies how the kids start to see things that indicate death is upon their doorstep?  For instance, the scene in which the kids are in the subway and all of the ads are from the places where their friends perished?  Well, apparently I’m going out by means of a stroke.  Or so this week would indicate.  First, I get 2 emails about strokes – 1 on how to identify a stroke and 1 on the symptoms of strokes.  Then, my mom leaves me an article about migraine headaches and strokes.  This morning I read a stat fact in the new issue of Parents magazine that states women who develop preeclampsia during pregnancy have an increased risk of stroke.  Did I mention that The Destroyer was 5 weeks early due to my massively high blood pressure caused by preeclampsia and that I have a raging migraine today?  Yeah….see what I mean?!

The All New Mamamamahoney

I was getting a little tired of the bland black look of this blog not to mention the very small custom header option. Therefore, today, I bring you a much more pleasing look to the site. Hope you enjoy it.

WW Update – Week 5

Weight lost in week 5 – 1.6 pounds

Total weight lost so far – 8.8 pounds

So after another holiday weekend, I went into Weight Watchers to be weighed with hesitation and a little anticipation.  I honestly didn’t think I gained weight, but I wasn’t exactly sure that I’d lost any either.  When I left for the meeting, I told my husband that it probably was going to be another .2 week.  To my surprise, I lost another 1.6 pounds.  I even earned a BRAVO sticker today for making good suggestions in the meeting.  GO ME!  Wishing you all continued success on your weight loss plans.  Any loss  is a good loss in my book!

Expected

I live in a world where certain things are expected of me.  We all do to some extent, I suppose.  I am expected to act a certain way, dress a certain way, do my job a certain way, raise my kids a certain way – at least in the eyes of those who dictate these expectations.  What I don’t like is when these expectations cross my “how I want to live my life” line and when the rules seems to be different for other people.  Should it not also be expected that at some point I’m going to stand up for myself?  I, personally, think expectations just set you up for disappointment.  So, here’s to me spending yet another day of my life being someone else’s disappointment.

Bathroom Mildew/Mold

We have 2 full bathrooms in our house.  One old one and one we remodeled.  Both have windows in the shower (which by the way I find to be the most asinine design in houses E-V-E-R!).  We use the old one the most since it is right next to our bedroom.  Last year, my husband recaulked the bathroom because the caulk was getting old and cracking and breaking out.  Since he didn’t have the ProCaulk (which I have since purchased him), there seem to be small spaces in the new caulking allowing a plethora of nasty mold to build up in certain spots along the tub.  I have tried using SoftScrub, the Scrubbing Bubbles, Vinegar, and a bunch of other stuff.  Nothing ever completely removed the mold.  This week, ShopRite had X-14 Mold & Mildew Stain Remover on sale and I thought what the heck.  This stuff is AMAZING.  Now let me preface this with the fact that no one sent me a sample of this, no coupons, nothing.  I just stumbled upon it.  Last night, while I was doing my nightly bathroom routine, I sprayed it on, thinking I would leave it until morning.  No need.  In about 5 minutes, the mold was gone.  No black marks, no mold – NO SCRUBBING.  The stuff smells very chemically, but man did it do the job and then some.  I’m hooked and finally my tub/shower won’t look like it is overgrown anymore.

WW Update – Week 4

Week 4 weight loss – .8 pounds

Total weight loss on WW so far – 7.2 pounds

I was a little nervous to stand on the scale this week because Sunday was my brother’s birthday and not only did I eat like a pig, I ate cake.  C-A-K-E – marked 9 points in the little WW bible.  My dad made spaetzle, german homemade noodles, and I ate 1 cup plus a hand-full during quality control, the few more I picked out of the bowl while we were all talking at the table.  I was hoping to lose a little more this week, but I think Sunday did me in because the scale Sunday morning looked a little lower than it did on Monday morning.  Oh well.  Any weight loss is good in my book.

Lit Moms

OK mamas.  This is a little scary.  No wait….to me, it is a LOT scary.  Getting lit when you have the tiny tots to take care of?  And, here, I thought my biggest problem of the week was The Destroyer learning to take off his diaper and crapping the carpet.  Now, not only do I have to worry about the lazy moms at the park who are too busy talking on their cell phones and drinking their Starbucks to watch their kids, I have to be weary of the ones that are high, too.  UGH.

I am a big advocate of the no drugs policy.  I have NEVER, yes, you read correctly, NEVER tried any type of drug for recreational purposes.  I don’t even really drink alcohol.  Call me a teetotaler, a goodie two shoes or a dweeb, but that is just how I feel.  I actually listened to my parents and teachers when they said, “Say No to Drugs”.  I think this is a vital message that needs to be conveyed to our children.  Kids these days are dying from all kinds of stupid drug shit – it is a shame and such a waste.  I think these moms/parents need to stop worrying so much about themselves and focus more on their kids.  There are better ways to reduce stress than lighting up and smoking a joint.

Be high on life, bitches!
